ESI Registration (Employee State Insurance)
ESI is maintained by the Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), an autonomous body. This scheme protects employees in cases of death or disablement due to employment injury, maternity, or sickness.
Eligibility
- Applicable to entities employing 10 or more people (threshold may vary by state).
- Both employer and employee contribute monthly at prescribed rates.
Documents Required for ESI Registration
- Certificate of Incorporation / Partnership Deed (as applicable)
- PAN and GST Certificate
- MOA & AOA of the company
- Address Proof of the company
- Utility bills (Electricity, Telephone, Gas)
- Rental Agreement (if applicable)
- List of Employees, Directors, and Shareholders
EPF Registration (Employees Provident Fund)
EPF is managed by the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO), the largest social security organization in India. It helps employees save for retirement and other future needs.
Eligibility
- Mandatory for establishments employing 20 or more people.
- Voluntary registration is possible for organizations with fewer than 20 employees.
Contribution Details
- Standard Rate: 12% of (Basic Salary + DA + Retaining Allowance) by both employer and employee.
- If employees < 20: Contribution rate reduces to 10% for both employer and employee.
Documents Required for EPF Registration
- MSME Registration (if applicable)
- Factory License (if applicable) – License number, date, and place of issue
- Startup Registration Certificate (if applicable)
- PAN and Incorporation Details of the establishment
UAN Registration (Universal Account Number)
UAN is a 12-digit unique number issued to every employee contributing to EPF. It centralizes employee data, enables portability of EPF accounts, and streamlines the verification process for employers.
