MSME / SSI / Udyam Registration

Abi Accounts provides Udyam Registration services across India. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME/SSI) registration is governed by the MSMED Act, 2006, applicable to businesses involved in production, manufacturing, processing, preservation of goods, and service provision.

While MSME registration is not mandatory, registering under SSI/Udyam offers a host of government incentives and benefits for small and medium businesses.

  • Partnership: Aadhaar of the managing partner.
  • Private Ltd., OPC, Public Ltd., Section 8, Trust, Society: Aadhaar of authorised signatory, PAN, and GST certificate.

No. Only one Udyam registration is allowed per enterprise. All activities (manufacturing and services) can be included under one registration. Providing false information can lead to penalties.

Classification depends on both investment and turnover. If either crosses the limit of the current category, the enterprise shifts to the next category. Multiple GST registrations under the same PAN are treated as one unit, and their combined turnover and investment are considered.

Investment is based on the ITR filed in previous years. For new enterprises, it's on a self-declaration basis until 31st March of the financial year. It excludes land, building, furniture, and includes both new and used machinery (invoice value excluding GST).

Export turnover is excluded. Data is linked to Income Tax and GST records. For entities without PAN, turnover is accepted on a self-declaration basis only till 31st March, 2021, after which PAN and GSTIN are mandatory.

Yes. Entities registered under Udyog Aadhaar before 30th June 2020 were required to migrate to Udyam Registration before 31st March 2021. Reclassification under the new system is mandatory.
